A squirrel cage, symbolic machine in the history of the cathedral builders, will be showcased in the forecourt of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Reims for the duration of the celebrations of the 800th anniversary Block of 6 May to 23 October 2011. This is a crane medieval culmination of machines used in ancient times, which multiplies the force due to the weight of the "squirrel man" and allowed builders to lift effortlessly loads a ton on sites of cathedrals.
